An advanced interactive signaling system for creating space mapping and indicating itineraries in closed environments
The beginning
A few months ago, we won the negotiated procedure launched by the Trieste Science Park Area, a national public institution controlled and supervised by the Ministry of Research that deals with research and innovation and manages the Trieste multisectoral Science and Technology Park.
The object of the tender was the service of development of a PWA application for image browsing in favor of AZIABOR KOFFI SERGES LAWREY, beneficiary of the Regional call Line of intervention 2.1.b.1bis – Granting of subsidies for the financing of pre-incubation and business incubation customized programs.
We are talking about an innovative app, consisting of an indoor orientation service based on the reading of barcodes or QRcodes by means of multiple devices.
A really interesting project, for which we are proud to have been chosen as a technological partner.
The partnership
Right from the start, our ICT division started a positive collaboration with the project stakeholders. A strong cooperation has been established which today translates into a rapid and efficient progress of the project.
A fruitful meeting that will lead, by August 2021, to the creation of an app with PWA technology: an acronym for Progressive Web App, a term originally coined by Google that refers to web applications developed and loaded like normal web pages, but which behave similar to native applications when used on a mobile device.
The keywords that will characterize the PWA are the following:
- Progressive indicates the subdivision of the initial loading into two phases: the first, almost instantaneous for the elements essential to its use and a subsequent one that includes all the dynamic contents;
- Responsive: the application is adapted to the various screen sizes (desktop, mobile, tablet, or sizes that may later become available);
- Indipendent: the use takes place regardless of the availability of the connection.
The main advantage of PWAs is that they can be easily installed on various devices (smartphones, tablets, PCs), without having to request downloads from the main stores (Google Play, Apple Store, etc.).
A cutting-edge solution of which the ICT division of Sautech Group is developer. This testifies our constant commitment to the update on the latest technologies available, in order to implement them and make them usable in projects in progress.
The project
By now there are many outdoor navigators that use the geolocation and we are used to use them frequently. In indoor environments, however, the use of such technology is very complicated and imprecise.
The creators of QuoVadis therefore thought of turning to the creation of a user guide system between Point Of Interest (POI) based on QRcode reading and also usable offline.
The idea is both simple and innovative: to guide the user from the starting point to the arrival point, itineraries characterized by the presence of intermediate POIs have been created; for each of these itineraries, indications have been created based on navigable 360 images, capable of guiding the user to the next POI (or to the final destination). To access the information, the user only has to frame the QR codes installed at the various POIs with his Smart device.
The user thus has a valid tool to be able to juggle in large environments, not detected by the usual satellites such as, for example, large parks, fairs, artistic and cultural places indoors, etc.
Our contribution
Our contribution in the realization of the application has a dual nature.
On the one hand, we are committed to structuring a responsive UI Design, perfectly adaptable to the nature of the PWA and with a modern, easy and intuitive design.
On the other hand, the intense work of the ICT division is aimed at finding the right technological solutions to implement the core functionalities of the PWA.
…and innovativeness must always be rewarded
Recognition for the originality of the idea was not long in coming. Our partners were awarded at Treviso Creativity Week, where the application was the most voted!
An important recognition that makes us happy and proud to collaborate on this very useful and revolutionary project.
Comparing and cooperating with partners dedicated to the world of innovation is fertile ground for us: it allows us to field our skills, exchange them and acquire new ones to increasingly enrich our creative and technological background.
Go on!
